Equestrian estate

Private

This equestrian estate is conceived around the principle of spatial continuity, with the architecture ascending naturally along the topography to create functional differentiation across levels. The design culminates in a squared loop, where the sleeping quarters hover above the entrance, establishing a dramatic threshold.

The roofscape unfolds as a sequence of superimposed planes, producing a striking interior experience. A rhythmic procession of timber frames punctuates the ascent, structuring the spatial journey and defining distinct zones along the way. This innovative approach allows a series of external rooms to infiltrate the overall volume of the house, fostering a dynamic interplay between indoor and outdoor environments.

Internal gardens explore the tension between a walled exterior and an open-ended interior, offering a nuanced dialogue between enclosure and openness. The design responds to stringent planning constraints—particularly regarding size and materials—by balancing architectural innovation with traditional techniques.

This typological study challenges conventional residential models by establishing a direct connection to the surrounding landscape through its open-ended interior. At the same time, it achieves a sense of security and intimacy by “walling” nature within the external rooms, striking a harmonious balance between privacy and exposure.
